High-powered Teams

Solution: The Coreporation Inc (TCI) provides teams with a logical meta-framework that can dramatically improve their effectiveness. The Balancing Act is a comprehensive and holistic approach that aligns a team within itself and also with the whole organization, resulting in Multi-Dimensional Strategic Alignment (MDSA).

One of the distinguishing characteristic of TCI’s approach is its generality, which: a) Allows experience in one arena to be leveraged for learning and action elsewhere; and b) Encourages individuals – and other teams throughout the organization -- to use this shared model to further align their activity and achieve more widespread success.

TCI can help promote a team’s strategic alignment by establishing agreement on the Elements of Success: the team’s Core Identity and Values (purpose for which team was established), shared Vision, common Mission, standards for Interactions, Structures necessary to support its work, and Synergy (the contextual/systemic understanding of how each member of the team, and the team as a unit, can positively affect the whole organization).

Although many leaders, teams, and organizations address the above Elements of Success separately (for example, doing Visioning exercises or Values clarification or writing a Mission statement), these vital qualities are rarely strategically linked or aligned with each other. Because these key components of team effectiveness are so often “disjointed,” they cannot reliably produce desired results, much less be sustained or leveraged for greater effect. For example, a team may have a clearly stated Mission, but it does not typically influence their Interactions, i.e., improve effective relationships and communications among team members.

The Team Balancing Act process makes sure that all of the vital elements necessary for a team’s success are clear, strong, and connected so, with practice over short time periods, team members learn new habits that get them unstuck. As a result, they become more positive, energized, innovative, and spend less time on infighting or power-struggles. Moreover, the team will become much more powerful and politic as a unit – able to attain its goals within the larger system via bridge-building and creative solutions.

Results: The Balancing Act offers teams a meta-framework that aligns six elements that are vital to their long-range effectiveness. In this way, all of the team’s efforts can be integrated and leveraged to create sustainable results. What differentiates TCI's approach from other interventions is that it initiates a virtuous cycle, a chain-reaction that supports ongoing capacity building and improves the effectiveness not only of the team as a unit, but also of its individual members.

The Balancing Act process produces strong teams with a dynamic balance of inner (core) stability and external agility–these are highly-resilient, “ultra-stable” teams characterized by adaptability, vitality, high-energy, and creativity. Individual team members are supported in developing emotionally mature relationships and in assuming full personal responsibility for the group’s outcomes. And, to further augment the ROI from our interventions, TCI provides on-line tools for continued learning and can train internal trainers in delivering our unique programs to multiply their value throughout the whole system.
